Headache
The orofacial therapist has completed a specialist Master's degree of 3 years. The jaw physiotherapist can help you ideally if you suffer from:
- Pain and/or a stiff feeling in the jaws;
- snapping or cracking jaws;
- a limited mouth opening;
- a poorly closing mouth;
- problems with eating, chewing or speaking.
What is jaw physiotherapy or orofacial therapy?
Is this only about complaints in the jaw region?
No, the following symptoms can also have their cause in the jaw area;
headache;
earache;
neck pain;
swallowing complaints;
dizziness;
ringing in the ears (tinnitus)
We have years of experience in treating these complaints within the practice. We work together with dentists, dental hygienists and general practitioners and have an extensive network.
What does a treatment look like?
Mobilization techniques and massage can be used in the treatment. In addition, a lot of attention is paid to exercises and advice to change certain (eating) habits, such as lip biting, cheek chewing, grinding or clenching. Within our practice, ample attention is also paid to learning to relax and becoming aware of tension in the jaw and neck region.
Referral/reimbursement.
Referral can be made by a general practitioner, dentist or oral surgeon. However, a referral is not necessary.
